The Proof Behind The Recovery Standard
At HIGGYS, we believe customers deserve more than marketing claims.
That is why every material used in our mattresses must meet our Recovery Standard. Before a material earns its place in a HIGGYS mattress, it must demonstrate measurable performance in three areas that directly affect sleep quality and overnight recovery:
- Pressure Relief
- Temperature Control
- Spinal Alignment
If we cannot prove it works through independent testing, it does not go in.
The figures displayed throughout our retail stores and point of sale materials are not estimates, opinions, or internal testing results. They are based on independent laboratory testing carried out by recognised third-party organisations.
52% Better Pressure Relief
What was tested?
Pressure relief is one of the most important factors in achieving comfortable, restorative sleep.
When excessive pressure builds beneath the shoulders, hips, and other weight-bearing areas of the body, it can cause discomfort, restricted circulation, and frequent movement throughout the night.
Independent testing compared HIGGYS Healthcare Engineered Foam against a standard NHS specification mattress.
The result – 52% Better Pressure Relief
Our Healthcare Engineered Foam reduced peak pressure points by 52% compared to the NHS standard mattress used within the testing.
The data
|
Material |
Peak Pressure |
|---|---|
|
HIGGYS Healthcare Engineered Foam |
59 mmHg |
|
NHS Standard Mattress |
124 mmHg |
Calculation: (124 − 59) ÷ 124 × 100 = 52.4%
Why it matters
Lower pressure points can help create a more comfortable sleeping surface, reduce unnecessary movement during the night, and provide better conditions for overnight recovery.

206% Faster Cooling
What was tested?
Temperature plays a major role in sleep quality.
When a mattress retains heat, it can contribute to overheating, night-time waking, and disrupted sleep cycles.
Independent thermal testing compared our Healthcare Engineered Foam against conventional memory foam.
The result – 206% Faster Cooling
Our foam releases heat more than three times faster than traditional memory foam.
The data
|
Material |
Heat Release Rate |
|---|---|
|
HIGGYS Healthcare Engineered Foam |
2.757°C per minute |
|
Traditional Memory Foam |
0.895°C per minute |
Why it matters
Faster heat dissipation helps create a cooler sleep environment and can reduce the build-up of excess heat during the night.

64% More Breathable
What was tested?
Breathability is about more than airflow.
A mattress must also allow moisture vapour to move away from the body to help maintain a fresher, drier sleep environment.
Independent testing compared moisture vapour transfer rates between our Healthcare Engineered Foam and a standard NHS specification mattress.
The result – 64% More Breathable
Our foam transferred significantly more moisture vapour than the NHS standard mattress.
The data
|
Material |
Moisture Vapour Transfer |
|---|---|
|
HIGGYS Healthcare Engineered Foam |
679 g/m²/day |
|
NHS Standard Mattress |
413 g/m²/day |
Calculation: (679 − 413) ÷ 413 × 100 = 64.4%
Why it matters
Greater moisture transfer can help maintain a drier sleeping surface and contribute to improved comfort throughout the night.
